Common Questions About Our Cosmetics Packaging

The EPE liner, made from low-density polyethylene, is an essential component added to the lid of our aluminium screw lid tins to ensure the preservation of freshness. The liner offers excellent chemical resistance and low moisture transmission rates, making it ideal for protecting your contents inside. It is particularly good for cosmetics such as creams. The EPE liner acts as a barrier, preventing external elements from compromising the quality and integrity of your product.

Our wax-lined cardboard push-up tubes are ideally suited to solid, anhydrous (not containing water) products. Think about cosmetics that are firm and would hold their shape if left to stand without any packaging.

    Some common examples include:

    • Stick lip balms (not the soft "dip your finger in" type)
    • Lipsticks
    • Camouflage sticks
    • Sunscreen
    • Stick deodorants.

Commonly used cardboard tube and tin packaging sizes for cosmetics differ for each product. Many brands also offer compact travel-size options or pocket-friendly choices.

    Here are some examples:

    Tins

    • Lip balm tins: commonly sold in 5ml or 10ml tins as likely to be put into pockets or handbags.
    • Face cream tins: 30ml or 50ml.
    • Body cream tins: 100ml+
    • Refill containers: 250ml

    Tubes

    • Push-up deodorant tube (portable): 35ml
    • Home deodorant push-up tube: 108ml
    • Lip balm sticks or lipstick: 16ml
    • Sunscreen sticks: 22ml (face) or 35ml (body).

You can use the tins for essential oils, but we advise testing them first, as some essential oils might react with aluminium and cause oxidation. Most of our product ranges allow you to buy one or two samples to test before you make your decision. Just make sure to choose tins with appropriate lids, or perhaps metal bottles, to prevent any leakage or evaporation.

Yes. There is list of things that must be present on the packaging. This includes things such as the name and address of the responsible person, the ingredients, the country of origin, etc. The best place to start is the UK Government guidance webpage: Making cosmetic products available to consumers in Great Britain. This includes the full list of packaging labelling requirements.

We also recommend reading the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013.
