Common Questions About Our Tin and Aluminium Packaging

Tinware Direct’s tins are coated with a lacquer to protect them from environmental degradation, which helps prevent rusting. However, it’s recommended to avoid using tinplate products for water-based items and instead opt for aluminium, which is highly resistant to corrosion.

Recycling Tinware Direct tins is a great way to contribute to environmental sustainability. Here are the steps you can follow:

Empty and Clean: Make sure the tins are empty and rinsed out to remove any food residue. This helps prevent contamination in the recycling process.

Remove Labels: If possible, remove any labels or stickers from the tins. Some recycling facilities can handle labels, but it’s best to check with your local guidelines.

Check Local Guidelines: Recycling rules can vary by location. Check with your local council or recycling program to see if they have specific instructions for metal tins.

Place in Recycling Bin: Once the tins are clean and free of labels, place them in your recycling bin. Most metal packaging, including steel and aluminium tins, is widely accepted for recycling.

Consider Reuse: Before recycling, think about whether you can reuse the tins for storage or other purposes around the house.

Recycling metal is highly efficient and helps reduce the need for new raw materials.

Our products are meticulously crafted to offer a secure seal, making them ideal for packaging a wide range of items, including food. The design ensures that the contents remain fresh and protected from general environmental factors. This makes our packaging solutions particularly suitable for various applications, whether you are looking to store dry goods, confectionery, or other items that require a reliable seal.

However, it is important to note that while our products provide a high level of security and protection, they are not specifically engineered to be completely airtight. This means that while they are excellent for general packaging needs, they may not be suitable for applications where an absolute airtight seal is critical. For instance, if you need to store items that are highly sensitive to air exposure or require a vacuum seal, our standard products might not meet those specific requirements.

We recommend labels be measured 2-4mm smaller than the size of the tin itself. This allows for a 1-2mm gap between the edge of the tin and the label around all edges. Larger spacing makes it easier to apply the label. Please take a look at our guide to label measuring.
