While we offer light customisation on our stock products with very low minimum order quantities, fully bespoke manufacturing requires a larger run. The minimum order quantity for our custom tin packaging and bespoke cardboard packaging is 3,000 pieces. Please note that any structural changes, such as altering the size, shape, or form of a stock tin, classify as a fully custom project and will require this 3,000-unit minimum. We can achieve almost any structural design you envision.
-
The cost of custom packaging depends on your specification, including the size, shape, quantity, print, finishes and any additional features such as embossing or inserts.
Because every bespoke project is different, we don’t provide rough estimates. Once we have your requirements, we’ll provide a detailed quotation within 1–2 working days, with all agreed costs clearly included.
-
Our bespoke manufacturing process is split into two phases to guarantee quality:
Prototyping: Once we have your artwork and deposit, producing your physical prototype samples takes 3-4 weeks.
Mass Production: After you officially approve your physical samples, final mass production and delivery typically take 12-14 weeks.
For more information, please see our processes section, where we explain each stage in more detail and what you can expect along the way. -
Yes. Our bespoke sampling service is designed to help you confirm that the packaging is the perfect fit for your product. We produce 2–3 physical samples of your custom printed tins or boxes so you can physically test the suitability and preview your artwork before committing to a full mass production run.
-
Yes. We can create bespoke packaging around your required size, shape, closure and specification, rather than limiting you to standard stock formats.
We can also incorporate additional features such as custom inserts, specialist finishes, embossing or internal printing, depending on the packaging type and your requirements.
-
We can provide a physical sample before you commit to a full production run, so you can check the size, shape and fit with your product.
If we already have a suitable sample available, we’ll send it to you free of charge. If a sample needs to be specially produced for your project, a small sampling fee will apply.
-
Yes, all quotations as standard (unless otherwise specified by you) will always include delivery.
-
We have been producing premium metal packaging and bespoke tins for over 25 years.
-
Our standard terms require a 30% deposit, with the remaining balance payable prior to shipment. If these terms are not suitable for you, please contact a member of our team at accounts@tinwaredirect.com and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
-
There are no additional costs whatsoever. We believe in complete transparency from the outset so there are no unexpected surprises.
-
Your bespoke packaging quotation is valid for 14 days.
-
Normally, comprehensive bespoke quotations take 1-2 working days.
-
If you are happy with the quotation we have provided, just let us know and we will take care of everything. We will arrange for physical samples of your specific design to be produced so you can check the overall look before committing to a mass order. Once you're ready to proceed, we will keep you fully updated throughout the entire production process.
-
The cost can vary depending on the size of your packaging, the material used, and the level of detailing required. As a general guide, a simple emboss typically ranges from £150 to £500.
-
If you are not entirely satisfied with the physical proof samples, you can choose not to go ahead or request new proofs with any changes you would like to make. Ultimately, we want to ensure you are completely confident in your bespoke tins before full production begins.
-
Yes, just ask a member of our team who would be delighted to put together a 3D digital mock-up of your custom tin cans or boxes for you.
-
Yes. We can match Pantone colours and existing brand colours as closely as possible during production.
Pantone colours provide the highest level of colour consistency. If CMYK printing is used, it can typically reproduce around 85% of Pantone colours, although some very bright shades, such as intense blues and vivid oranges, and some subtle neutrals, such as greys and creams, may not be matched exactly because of CMYK colour limitations.
If you provide your Pantone reference, artwork or existing packaging, our factory can adjust the CMYK settings to achieve the closest possible match and advise on the most suitable printing method for your project.
-
We offer a wide range of printing and colour options for custom tins, including CMYK full-colour printing, Pantone colours, single-colour designs, plain silver and plain gold finishes.
We can also match brand colours as closely as possible and combine your print with additional finishes such as matt or gloss lacquer, embossing, debossing and internal printing, okdepending on your design and specification.
-
Yes. We can add embossing or debossing to your custom tin to create a raised or recessed design, such as a logo, pattern or brand element.
A custom tool is produced specifically for your artwork and used during manufacturing to create the effect. We can also offer 3D embossing for a deeper, more pronounced finish where suitable.
The final cost depends on the size, detail and complexity of the design, and we can advise on the best option for your project.
-
Yes. We can print on the inside of your custom tin as part of the bespoke production process.
Internal printing can be used for branding, messaging, decorative details or additional product information, depending on the tin design and specification.
If you are considering internal printing, let us know during the quotation stage so we can confirm the most suitable option for your project.
-
Our bespoke tins are high-quality novelty tins; they are not vacuum-sealed or fully airtight like traditional food cans. However, tin packaging is incredibly popular for storing dry foods because it is durable, opaque, and helps keep contents fresh by protecting them from light, moisture, and contamination.
-
To provide an accurate quotation, we’ll usually need a few key details about your project, including the size and shape of the tin, order quantity, intended use, lid or closure style, artwork requirements and any finishes or additional features you would like.
If you already have an existing tin, drawing or specification, you can also send this to us as a reference. Once we have the necessary information, we can prepare a detailed quotation for your project.
-
Yes. If you like one of our existing stock tins, we can use it as the basis for a new bespoke production run.
Because our stock tins are already manufactured, they cannot be altered directly. Instead, we recreate the tin from scratch to your required specification and can add your branding, colours, print and selected finishes during production.
As this is a fully bespoke manufacturing project, our standard bespoke minimum order quantity will apply.
-
Yes. We offer free reproduction of existing tin packaging, including tooling, colour matching and setup costs.
Send us your existing tin or its specification, and we can assess the size, shape, lid style, print, colours and finishes to reproduce it as closely as manufacturing allows. We’ll let you know if any adjustments are needed before production.
-
We offer a wide range of lid and closure options for custom tins, including slip lids, hinged lids, plug lids, lever lids, clip lids, screw lids and sliding lids.
The best option will depend on the shape of your tin, how the packaging will be used and the type of opening experience you want to create. We can help recommend the most suitable closure for your project.
-
We can manufacture custom tins in a wide range of sizes and shapes, from simple round, square and rectangular formats to more distinctive bespoke designs.
Your tin can be developed around the dimensions and structure you need, including different heights, lid styles and closures, subject to manufacturing requirements. If you already have a size or existing pack in mind, we can assess it and recommend the most suitable option for your project.
